Coal Combustion Residuals
R. B. Jergens specializes in coal combustion residual (CCR) work including landfill construction, wet CCR impoundment closures, CCR management at active power plants, and other heavy civil / environmental power generation construction projects.
We build waste / environmental construction projects and public improvement projects of all varieties (roads, bridges, site development, asphalt paving, and concrete work). We have worked for a wide variety of power utilities, state EPA agencies, state highway divisions, local municipalities, national design-build firms, and waste disposal companies. There is essentially no power generation / environmental heavy-civil construction work that we cannot perform.
We excel in large, complex, fast-track earthwork projects and integrated ash management projects.
Our fast-track projects have included work at solid and industrial waste landfills, manufacturing facilities, and commercial site development projects. In order to perform these projects, we coordinate our efforts with multiple work forces (union and non-union), a wide variety of regulatory agencies, and a multitude of owners and engineers. R.B. Jergens embraces the movement to increase the amount diversity in the specialized construction work that we perform. This involves the inclusion of diverse suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, and support entities.
R.B. Jergens employs a group of experienced, highly trained individuals, well-versed in the complete management of the Utility Industry’s waste components.
We have successfully secured multiple large-scale projects involving the construction of new landfill cells - including all the infrastructure components required, such as bridges, drainage systems, leachate collection systems, erosion and sedimentation control measures, etc. We have been on the leading edge of the wet CCR impoundment industry, successfully completing the country’s first sizeable wet CCR impoundment closure. We have also completed several additional wet/dry CCR impoundment closure projects in recent years.
